IntroZambia
Cary Mufulira Community Partnership Trust would like to announce its "IntroZambia" annual visit to Mufulira, which will take place at Easter 2012. CMCPT organises a 10-day visit to Mufulira in the Zambian Copperbelt followed by, for those who wish it, a visit to the Victoria Falls and Livingstone via a farm and village near Mazabuka, or as an alternative, a visit to the South Luangwa National Park and a remote village in the Eastern Province.During the stay in Mufulira, everybody has their own programme tailored to their particular interests. CMCPT have taken teachers, nurses, social workers, a hairdresser, an engineer, an electrician amongst others, and CMCPT can always make sure visitors meet up with their Zambian counterparts. Visits to the markets, townships, shops, churches etc can also be arranged. Visitors are often invited to people's homes and make real friends. This opportunity would give MMTA members or members of their families a chance to see first hand some of the projects they have supported, and also the levels of pollution and poverty in some of the communities involved. CMCPT can usually also arrange visits to the Mufulira Mine and/or smelter. Everyone stays together in a well appointed bungalow in the middle of Mufulira. The cost for the stay in Mufulira is the air fare plus approximately £300, in addition to costs for the extra trips. If MMTA members are interested in this opportunity, please contact executive@mmta.co.uk.
