Annual General Meeting 2010: Election Results

The MMTA AGM took place on 27th April 2010 on the second day of the International Minor Metals Conference held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London.

During the AGM, Gladys Smith of Sanab Ltd, stood down from both the Main Committee and Business & Events sub-committee, after 8 years of great service.  Gladys had also previously chaired the Marketing Committee.  John Price or Trident Traders also stepped down from the Mediation & Arbitration sub-committee which he chaired.  John has been involved with MMTA committees since 1987 and was MMTA chairman from 2000 to 2003.

In the course of the AGM, the MMTA’s Main Committee was proud to welcome its newest member, Arnoud Willems of Sidley Austin, proposed by Charles Swindon of RJH Trading and seconded by Michael Ihlenfeld of F.W. Hempel Metallurgical GmbH.  Arnoud was already a member of the Trade and Lobby sub-committee and is instrumental in creating the Trade and Lobby newsletters.

Committee members who were re-elected were chairman Guy Darby (Darton Commodities), David Craik (AMC), Roy Walton (Darton Commodities), Charles Swindon (RJH Trading), Steven Munnoch (Avon Metals), Peter Nicholson (London Chemicals & Resources), Anthony Lipmann (Lipmann Walton), David Brown (Lambert Metals International), Michael Ihlenfeld (F.W. Hempel Metallurgical GmbH) and Sarah Frigot (Wogen Resources).
Arnoud said “I’m really looking forward to this; it’s an interesting group and there’s a lot more to be done.  The main aim is to try to get a minor metals policy in Europe and on a global level.  It won’t be done in a month, but it could be in three to five years”.
