Inspection Schedule

Open all containers, note any different markings or indications of heterogeneity. However these types of material are often supplied in sealed containers with accompanying certification from suppliers of international repute. Where the integrity of such seals and containers has been maintained the certification can be considered acceptable.

Sampling Schedule

If there are no signs of heterogeneity then sample on an incremental basis, say arbitrarily in sublots say valued at $0.5M or some similar convenient aliquot.
Sampling of such materials will be associated with weighing, which should be conducted on a certified scale. Traceability of the certification should be known.

Sample Preparation

The material should be blended and reduced to a bulk sample of 500g, hand screened to a convenient sizing, (it may be necessary to conduct a moisture determination). After blending quality analytical are samples drawn. All such sample masses should be noted.
It may be considered necessary to produce a composite sample or individual lot samples where a parcel is split into sublots or heterogeneity is recognised.
