All forms are packed under mineral oil. A variety of approved packages are used to accommodate the various forms and quantities ordered. Standard packaging is permissible for truck or ocean shipment.

Other Notes

Flammable solid.

Water reactive.

Reacts violently with water to give off corrosive dust and flammable hydrogen gas.

Elevated temperatures, above melting point (180.5oC/357oF), can result in spontaneous ignition in humid air.

Lithium in solid form can be handled in open atmosphere at room temperature, either coated with mineral oil or where humidity is maintained below 50%.

Safety glasses or goggles and dry rubber gloves should be worn. Dispersions or any form where spillage is possible require full protective clothing and flame resistant face shield.

Lithium metal should be stored in original unopened shipping container.
